VAM-USA’s pipe threading facility is the company’s first Ohio location. The company’s proprietary thread makes it an industry leader. Based in Houston, VAM-USA is a joint venture between Vallourec and Sumitomo, both major players in the steel industry.
This new facility includes a 76,700-square-foot Varco-Pruden pre-engineered steel building addition and a 76,500-square-foot renovation. ÃØÃÜÈë¿Ú was selected as the design/build contractor for the new facility and renovations.
VAM favored our one-team, total package approach that competitors couldn’t match. They knew that by using RLG there would be one team working on the project from start to finish – completing it on time and within budget.
Ahead-of-schedule installation of the first four zones of ‘production line B’ allowed the commissioning to be completed one month ahead of schedule. With the value engineering review process and subsequent recommendations provided by our team, VAM saved more than $3 million. The use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) saved an additional $200,000 by identifying and eliminating more than 70 clashes in the process design.
